About Ludlow Concert Band
The Band was formed in 2009 by Colin and Amanda Reeves with the main idea that it was about time Ludlow had their own band again. It was decided to call it the Ludlow Concert Band, since it was going to be a wind band which contains both brass and wind instruments. The Town Council was extremely supportive and gave a start up grant for the band, to help buy music and other essentials, with the understanding that as a community wind band, the band would play at special civic events such as Remembrance Sunday and parades as well as other community lead events.
As with any new organization it took a lot of dedication and hard work to keep the momentum going but it has certainly paid off. With nearly 30 local musicians now playing in the band the organizers hope that it is a band the town can be proud of. The repertoire has expanded over the years, as has the standards, though it still holds to the principle of welcoming new players of all abilities. The band is very pleased to play for the town and also enjoys events in and around South Shropshire, often venturing in Herefordshire! We rehearse every Thursday evening at the Rugby club, clubhouse. Membership is free all that we ask is that members attend rehearsals regularly and play out with the band as much as they are able to. Conductor & Secretary David Redmayne
